AromaHerbal Wound Care
There is something that happens when I ignore uncomfortable things in my life; when I don’t acknowledge the messages of my heart. Without fail, I end up cutting some part of my hand, and the depth of the cut depends directly on the subject of the messages I’m ignoring. 😬
Yesterday, the messages must have been serious because I sliced my poor finger to the white meat! 😫 I bled through two paper towels, Bounty paper towels to be exact, so you can fully grasp the situation. After a sharp pain, I remembered my herbalism training and got to work.
I added a teaspoon of Yarrow into a small bowl and 1/2 teaspoon of water and stirred just to moisten. I placed the Yarrow directly on my wound and wrapped it with another paper towel and held it in place for about 5 minutes. The bleeding finally stopped.
I cleaned the wound with Witch Hazel to remove any shards of glass that may have stuck to my finger. I added a couple of drops of organic Tea Tree essential oil (one of the few essential oils safe to use without diluting) to kill any bacteria and ward off infection.
After letting the wound “breathe” for a couple of minutes, I used my stitch strips to tighten the wound, taped over the stitches, and placed my finger in a splint to avoid too much movement.
That’s it! My finger feels better already today, and I’m relieved that I didn’t damage it. I’m so grateful the Spirit created herbs and plants; I don’t know how I would survive without them.
Moral of the story, don’t ignore the messages of your Heart. Sit with them and listen because your heart will get your attention one way or another! 😉
