Nas, Hip Hop's Greatest

Lately, I’ve been restless and feeling stuck; bored and uninterested in anything to be honest. Just waking up each day because the Universe demands that I do so but not doing much at all (according to the ridiculous standards I’ve set for myself *eye roll*). Today felt different when I awakened… I could feel the sunlight before seeing it, my heart felt peaceful and my mind felt ready to go.

I came across a post by Nas and his latest work of art with DJ Premier and my eyes lit up! I added the album to my library expeditiously (I love words and this is a favorite)! I began listening and instantly felt connected to the music and the lyrics. Nas is hands down the best lyricist and storyteller to ever grace Hip Hop…Period! Normally I would entertain other perspectives but not when it comes to Nas and Hip Hop; thanks but no thanks! You are not obligated to agree and I’m not obligated to care so let’s move on…

I fell in love with Hip Hop when it began; I ran home every Saturday evening to make sure I had a clean cassette to record whatever the DJs decided to play that night. I fell out of love with Hip Hop when it became Rap Music (another *eye roll*). I’ve had this love, hate, love again relationship with Hip Hop for decades and each time I think, this is it (for real this time), I’m pulled back in. DMX pulled me back, in a big way a while back but it’s been Nas who never seems to let me go for good.

I appreciate you Nas; thank you for always staying true to your art, Hip Hop.

Supporting you always,

~ SereneSassySoul ~
